Public Annex Collaborative Arts Support Staff Policy

Public Annex is currently experiencing an exciting period of growth! This growth and change has shown us that we need to create new guidelines and policies so that everyone can fully enjoy and utilize class time.

Public Annex is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization that provides accessible urban farming and programming, focusing on inclusivity of artists and farmers with developmental disabilities.

Our Mission: To break down systemic barriers that prohibit marginalized populations from inclusivity by building a community around accessible farming and art programming.

In order to honor our Mission, we ask all Support Staff/Providers to follow and uphold the following policies and agreements:

  1. Respect our bodies and the bodies of others.

  2. Respect tools, equipment, and supplies.

  3. Create a space of equality where everyone is an artist and a teacher

  4. Be careful with our words while practicing acceptance and compassion

  5. There are many ways to do one thing, there is never one way to do something.

If any of these agreements are violated, Public Annex will check in with the participant and/or staff, speak about the violation and create a plan to move forward. If any of the agreements are violated a second time, the participant and/or staff member will be uninvited and will no longer be able to attend Public Annex.

Public Annex reserves the right, at our discretion, to turn away anyone who compromises the safety and security of our safer space.

  • Public Annex is not a provider organization and cannot be responsible for supporting participants. All groups attending class must have a participant to staff ratio at most of 3:1.

  • All payments for class are due on or before the start of class. The fee is $5 per class and accompanying support people are free. Payment may be made in person by cash or check or via our website: http://publicannex.org/purchase

  • Participants/Staff may be in the Public Annex classroom space from 10:30am - 1:00pm. If you want to remain at TaborSpace, please enjoy the coffee shop upstairs.

  • All participants and/or staff must also abide by TaborSpace policies.  https://taborspace.org/space-rental-policies

  • Severe Weather Policy: We follow Portland Public Schools closings for any severe weather. If PPS is closed, Public Annex will be closed and we will not hold class that day.
